Pregnancy and Children’s Conditions

Our office has cared for countless women through pregnancy. Chiropractic has been shown to help women with a variety of issues during pregnancy from sciatica and lower back pain, to fetal breech presentation. All Chiropractors are trained to work with pregnant women. American states:

Establishing pelvic balance and alignment is another reason to obtain chiropractic care during pregnancy. When the pelvis is misaligned it may reduce the amount of room available for the developing baby. This restriction is called intrauterine constraint. A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery. This can affect the mother’s ability to have a natural, non-invasive birth. Breech and posterior positions can interfere with the natural ease of labor and lead to interventions such as c-sections.The nervous system is the master communication system to all the body systems including the reproductive system. Keeping the spine aligned helps the entire body work more effectively.

Pregnant women who receive chiropractic care throughout pregnancy report less pain and discomfort, better sleep, more energy, and often easier and less complicated labor.

We often see children for a ride range of chiropractic issues from chronic ear infections in the very young to sports related injuries in adolescents and teenagers. We check children of all ages for postural dysfunction, postural scoliosis, stress, musculoskeletal injuries, sports injuries, sprains and strains, and more. Children’s spine undergo a great deal of stress and strain as they grow. Children are very active and not always aware of maintaining good posture, nor are they always informed on how to protect themselves from traumas and injuries as well as adults. Some research suggests that the average 12-19 month old toddler can fall up to 17 times per hour while learning to walk. Our goal is to ensure that the child’s spine is functioning properly to allow it to withstand stress as it develops and grows, and to correct any dysfunction as early as possible.
